======UNIT RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULTS======


**Symptoms:**

  * Unit Reset to Factory Defaults  
  * How do I Reset the unit to the default values  
  * Revert X5 to Factory  
  * Revert X506  to Factory  


**Facts:** Factory Reset   
  * X Family  
  * X5  
  * X506  


**Fixes:** 

  * WARNING:The Reset of the X Family Firewall to Factory Default values using the Debug procedure described below will:

  - Revert the TOS operating system version back to what was installed at the factory. After the Reset the unit will need to be upgraded  back to the desired TOS version.
  - Reset the unit to Factory default values . All configuration will be lost. The unit will revert to a default LAN IP address of  https://192.168.1.254
  - Revert to Low Encryption only. After the Reset the unit will need to have the Strong Encryption Package re-installed, if needed (3DES support). You may need to download this again from the 3Com web site by completing the Trade & Compliance form.
 
**Here follows the steps to Reset the unit to the Factory Default values:**

  * From the CLI, (console is 115200,8,N,1) issue the following command debug factory-reset 
  * Type COMMIT (all caps) to confirm factory reset
