Wireless Switch - Can a Mesh link pass traffic from multiple VLAN

Symptoms:

• Can a Mesh link pass traffic from multiple VLAN
• Are Multiple VLAN supported by the Mesh Portal in Bridge mode
• Are Multiple VLAN supported by the Mesh AP in Bridge mode
• Only 1 VLAN supported across the mesh link
• VLAN 2 not working across Mesh link

Facts: version v7.0.4.3.0

• Wireless
• Wireless LAN Switches and Controllers
• Wireless LAN Switch WX1200
• Wireless LAN Controller WX4400
• Wireless LAN Controller WX2200
• Wireless LAN Switch WXR100
• Wireless Switch Manager

Causes: The Wireless Switch at version v7.0.4.3 or above will allow a mesh link to pass traffic from multiple VLAN. The Mesh Portal and Mesh AP will not look at the tags and will simply bridge the traffic across the Mesh link.

Fixes: In the configuration shown below:

PC1---vlan 2--- switch---vlan 1 & 2---Mesh Portal---mesh link---Mesh AP---vlan 1 & 2---switch---vlan2

The Mesh Portal and Mesh AP port on the wired switch will need to have the VLAN properly configured (for example Vlan 1 untagged and VLAN 2 tagged on both switches).

Note: The Wireless Switch, the Mesh Portal and the Mesh AP will know nothing about this VLAN 2, they will pass the traffic whether it is tagged or untagged.
