HOW TO RECOVER FROM A LOST SYSTEM PASSWORD

Problem:

• How to recover from a lost SYSTEM password
• Lost password
• Forgot password
• Password is unknown
• Do not know system password

Fact:

• Wireless LAN Switches and Controllers
• Wireless LAN Switch WX1200
• Wireless LAN Controller WX4400
• Wireless Switch Manager
• Wireless LAN Managed Access Point 2750

Cause: Password cannot be recovered so a reset to default values needs to be done to regain access

Fix: Recovery Procedure:

1) Need to reboot the 3WXM switch and having console access

2) After rebooting the 3WXM, there will be a prompt to stop the rebooting process by typing a “q” followed by the ENTER.

3) At the prompt “boot>“, type the following command: boot OPT+=default

NOTE: Execution of the above command will result in the loss of any configuration that was previously defined.
