NBX-S2 LED ON AND SYSTEM WILL NOT BOOT

Symptoms:

Facts: SuperStack 3 NBX

Causes: NBX Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is not installed properly The software and the hardware do not match. For instance, NBX 100 software was loaded on the the hard disk with an NBX 25 NCP. Thumb screws on card are not snugged down

Fixes: Install the HDD correctly:

1. Verify there is no power to the chassis

2. Remove chassis cover or remove the SS 3 NBX Disk Tray

3. Seat the IDE ribbon cable properly, verifying Pin 1 on controller and HDD is same

4. Connect the HDD power to the power supply

5. On SS 3 NBX only reinstall Disk Tray

6. Apply power to the chassis and verify a system boot

7. If system boots properly, replace the chassis cover on the NBX 100 or NBX 25

8. If not, replace the following in this order until system boots:

If verified that the HDD is installed correctly, run command from NBoss> or BNCP> prompt:

1. On the NBX 100 or NBX25, command is: run 0,bootnbx.sys

2. On the SS3 NBX, command is: run 0,bootgin.sys

3. If these commands fail, file is not found, the hard disk is either hard failed or does not have proper software.

4. Replace the HDD.

If this does not fix the issue, see the following solution: NBX - Will not boot, or cannot connect to NCP Typing reset from the NBoss prompt will most of the time reboot the system; otherwise reset the power.
