HOW TO BOOT SYSTEM SOFTWARE OVER THE NETWORK

Symptoms:

  • How to boot system software over the network
  • How to boot system software over the network
  • How to boot system software from a TFTP server
  • System reboots continuously
  • How to recover from corrupted software
  • software image is corrupted

Facts:

  • CoreBuilder 3500
  • CB3500 Extended Software v2.1.0
  • CB3500 Extended Software v2.0.2
  • CB3500 Extended Software v2.0.0
  • CB3500 Extended Software v1.2.0
  • CB3500 Base Software v1.2.0

Fixes:

For CB3500 software versions 1.2 and later, use the following procedure:

To boot over the network, quickly hit after the system displays the “Press Enter to stop auto-boot” message (you only have about 1 second to react). This will put you in the CB3500 boot menu. You can now set up the boot parameters to boot the software from a TFTP server. Do this under the “set network” submenu.

After you have the parameters set up, go back to the top level and type “boot net”. See below for a sample console session showing how to do this. CoreBuilder 3500 SysBoot Version 2.0 development 0 Press Enter to stop auto-boot

Note - hit here - be quick!
