SAVING NVDATA TO AN TFTP/FTP SERVER

Fact:

  • 3C35100, CB3500 Chassis
  • 3C35004, CB3500 System Processor Module
  • CB3500 Extended Software
  • CB3500 Base Software

Symptom:

  • Need to save configuration
  • Need to save NVdata to an TFTP/FTP server

Cause:

When the system saves NV data, it writes it to a disk file on a host computer (that is, a server) using TFTP or FTP. You can then retrive the data from the disk file with the "restore" option.

Fix:

To save NV data, from the top level of the Administration Console, enter:

  1. SYSTEM NVDATA SAVE
  2. The system prompts you for information about saving the data.To accept the value in brackets, press return or enter. Any entry for IP address, filename, and user name becomes the new default.
  3. Enter the IP address of the TFTP or FTP server.
  4. The system prompt says NV CONTROL FILE, so enter the name of the control file without the NVD extension.
  5. Optionally, enter a label for the file.
  6. If a session is successfully opened, a system message notifies you of the success or failure of your save. To save the data as proposed, enter "y".
  7. At the end of a successful save, the system display returns to the previous menu.
