RESOLVING THE CONSOLE LOCKOUT PROBLEM

Symptoms: Resolving the console lockout problem

  • Console lockout
  • Intruder set the login username and password on the console login
  • Do not remember the username and password for console login
  • Forgot the password

Facts: SuperStack II Remote Access System 1500

  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows 95
  • console login

Fixes: There is no default console login username and password. If you are experiencing the console lockout problem, you can only resolve this problem by erasing the system and configuration file from the RAS1500 (This will set your uinit back to the factory default settings and you must re-configure).

Step to Step

Steps to accomplish this action are:

  • 1. Use DB-9 to DB9 console cable and open Hyper Terminal select 38400, 8-n-1-hardware
  • 2. Unplug the power on RAS1500 and then plug back the power.
  • 3. Press Esc keys 4 times when system starts.
  • 4. Type AT{H} to halt the boot sequence.
  • 5. Type AT{E} to erase the system file.
  • 6. After you erase the system file, you can follow the standard procedures to reload the boot file and router modular as indicated in solution builder.
