HOW DO I CONFIGURE THE INTERNAL INTERFACES?

Symptoms:

  • How do I configure the Internal Interfaces?

Facts:

  • High Availability
  • X5
  • X506
  • X505
  • Internal Interfaces

Causes:

  • There is some confusion in both the Online Help and in the paper documentation over the configuration of the internal interfaces on a High Availability pair of X-family devices.

Fixes: In an X-family HA pair, internal interface(s) that are in use for any purpose - even if only for HA communication between the two devices - should be configured as a Virtual Interfaces with shared IP address and HA IP address.

X-family devices in a High Availability pair can have internal interfaces with NAT enabled (“NAT'd”) or NAT disabled (routed).

  • Product(s): X Family
  • Sub Product(s): X5, X506
