Is Cisco Cube an SBC?
As part of the Cisco® Collaboration Edge architecture, Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) is an enterprise-class session border controller (SBC) solution that connects and interconnects large, medium, and small enterprise unified communications networks with services. public and private IP communication networks.
Cisco Unified Binding Element (CUBE) allows users to make incoming and outgoing calls through its Internet Telephony Service (ITSP). This is extremely useful when you need to connect your ITSP to some type of public switched telephone network (PSTN) infrastructure.
CUBE network H.323 to SIP is a feature of Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) that allows a network to connect an H.323 network to a SIP network, or vice versa:
- CUBE: A unified communications element that provides voice and video connectivity between a company's IP network and a service provider's network. CUBE can act as a demarcation point within a unified communications network, providing interconnectivity with external networks.
- H.323: A protocol that requires both endpoints to establish a connection before exchanging data.
- SIP: A signaling communications protocol that allows for faster communication because it doesn't require time to configure for each call.
- CUBE can provide flexibility in interconnecting protocols, allowing for the reception of incoming calls on one protocol and the sending of outgoing calls on another. CUBE can also obfuscate VoIP addresses to help prevent cyber attacks.
Other applications of CUBE include:
- Connecting two or more networks
- Connecting a SIP network to a SIP provider
- Playing a role in B2B communications
