factory reset a SonicWall device using the CLI

To factory reset a SonicWall device using the CLI, you can use the reinitializetofactorysettings command. You can also perform a factory reset by entering a series of commands to boot the device with default settings.

Steps to perform a factory reset using the CLI:

  • Log in to the device's CLI
  • Enter the reinitializetofactorysettings command
  • The device will reboot and return to factory default settings

Steps to perform a factory reset using a series of commands:

  • Select the highlighted entry, which is usually “SonicCore X”
  • Select r to enter recovery mode
  • Enter 0 to enable maintenance mode
  • Enter the maintenance key
  • Select 5 to boot the device with default settings
  • The device will reboot and return to factory default settings

You can also perform a factory reset using the device's GUI.
