HOW TO CONFIGURE IP ON-THE-FLY

Symptoms: How to configure IP-on-the-Fly License

  • Cannot get IP phones to work
  • IP phones will not connect
  • IP On-the-fly buttons do not show up in net set

Facts: NBX Phones

Causes: Improper set-up of IP On-the-Fly

Fixes: Setting up for IP On-the-Fly:

1. Enter IP On-the-Fly License Key

2. Ensure the NCP's IP settings for Sub-net Mask and Gateway are valid

3. Enable IP On-the-Fly within System Settings, System Wide → Network Protocol, change to IP On-the-Fly from Ethernet Only

4. Reboot your system for settings to take effect

5. Enter the range of IP addresses under System Settings, IP Addresses button. This address range should be for the same sub-net as the NCP

6. Enable Auto-discover Telephones

7. Connect a remote IP telephone set (or NBX card device) to the LAN local to the NCP

8. Configure it with IP settings for the remote LAN

9. Connect the device to the remote sub-net Note: There are at least 3 ways to configure remote IP NBX devices. Please be familiar with them before implementation. At this point, you should be able to PING the phone from a PC on the NBX site, and also be able to PING the NCP from a PC at the remote IP phone site.

10. The remote phone or device should boot completely and operate at this point
