REBOOT AND SHUTDOWN THE NBX 100

1 OBJECT

The following material clearly describes the procedures for restarting and shutting down the 3Com NBX 100; to obtain information on other equipment refer to the corresponding document.

2. REACH

This material was designed to be used as a working tool for systems personnel directly related to the operation of the data network.

3. GLOSSARY OF TERMS

IP ADDRESS: Unique identifier of a server, station or work team within a network.

TCP / IP: Data Transport Protocol / Internet Protocol.

CONSOLE: Switch configuration window, it is the interface between the network equipment and the administrator user. The console allows you to configure the different characteristics of the network equipment through commands.

TIMEOUT (timeout): Like many other systems, network equipment needs a certain time to wait for a response or action, if this does not occur, they should be able to exit their waiting cycle and request another task. The timeout is the one that tells the team how long to wait for a response or action before presenting an error message and proceeding to perform another task.

PROMPT: Console Indicator, the prompt is the place where I can type the console commands to configure the switch.

SWITCH: High-tech equipment that allows me to obtain better performance thanks to its excellent distribution of the transmission channel.

PARITY: Corresponds to a control bit that is added to the data frame in order to verify if the information sent by the sender corresponds to the same as received by the receiver, this operation corresponds to an error control by means of a simple formula mathematics.

TERMINAL: Software to emulate a workstation through remote access.

Bps: Acronym for Data Bits Per Second.

GATEWAY: Terminal equipment that allows linking a workstation or several to other networks.

SOFTWARE: Set of programs, instructions and documents to solve data processing problems.

LOGIN: Access the equipment through an authorized user.

PASSWORD: Password of an authorized user.

DOWNLOAD: Download files.

REBOOT / RESET: Reboot the computer.

4. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS

5. GENERAL CONDITIONS

It is important to follow the order of each of the installation standards described in this document in order to ensure good and normal operation of the equipment within the parameters of the data network for Ecopetrol.

6. RESTART THE NBX SYSTEM

  • 1. Click on the Operations icon in the main menu.

  • 2. Click on Reboot/Shut Down.

  • 3. Make Select the software version with which the NBX is going to be restarted and click on Reboot.

  • 4. When asked if you want to restart the control panel, click YES.

  • 5. Click close when the NBX has finished rebooting. The reboot process can take several minutes.

  • 6. Finally, the main access window of the NetSet administration tool will appear, indicating the version with which the control panel was rebooted.

7. TURN OFF THE NBX SYSTEM

  • 1. Click on the Operations icon in the main menu.

  • 2. Click on Reboot/Shut Down.

  • 3. Click on Shut Down.

  • 4. When asked if you want to turn off the NBX, click YES.

  • 5. Finally, a sign will appear indicating that the NBX system can be disconnected. Click Close and disconnect the system from power.
